Abstract. The impact of operating temperature on the mechanical properties of aircraft structures must be considered to ensure their weight efficiency. This study examines the structural configurations of compression-loaded power struts made with aluminum, titanium, and carbon fiber tubes. The optimal design of a power strut corresponds to the minimum mass of the tube, as well as its associated outer diameter and wall thickness. A carbon fiber tube provides high weight efficiency at operating temperatures up to 100°C, whereas a metal tube is more effective at temperatures exceeding 100°C.
